Welcome to the North Shore Primary School website for 2010. We are excited about the way our site, which was launched in Term 3 2009, has been developing and the positive feedback that it is receiving.
When the website was developed we started with the goal of creating a site that would be the first place that our families would access when seeking information about how to increase the opportunities for success and health and well-being for families and their children. We have included many links to agencies and groups that support families in education and health matters. Our staff are continually creating content for the site that which will celebrate our achievements, communicate our goals and projects, and explain the way that our curriculum and events are offered.
We are looking forward to several new developments in 2010. The first is the construction of a new roof over the Junior Playground and the installation of several new activity stations in this area. The second is the placement of new fencing around the wetlands area in an attempt to be able to have this area return to being a valued and attractive outdoor learning space. The third is repairs to the Senior Playground and the relocation of seating and tables around the school grounds. These improvements to our outdoor areas continues the work that has seen our learning facilities be upgraded to be considered some of the State's best. The Learning Centres, Library and Music Centres Administration Centre and Gym/Hall have supported our teachers and support staff to deliver high quality 21st century learning programs.
We welcome Mr Scott Hamilton and Miss Kimberley Plevko to our teaching team and both teachers will be joining our Ms Melanie Dick, Ms Linda Golding and Ms Sheree Kapornya in our Year 3/4 team in 2010.
North Shore Primary School, is proud of its 84 year history of providing the North Shore-Norlane area with a caring and successful, local government school option. When North Shore is mentioned, it is difficult not to think of community. Strong and sustained partnerships between the school and a broad range of organisations, agencies and services exist to ensure that our learners and their families have the greatest chance of success in their lives.
North Shore Primary School can be considered a small school with a current enrolment of 155 students. Walking through our school, it is clear that forming strong and positive relationships is important across our school. Low student to teacher ratios, classroom support staff, a range of intervention and support programs can be easily be seen.
North Shore Primary School is a Restorative Justice School which encourages people to think and act responsibly and to explore and accept their role in any dispute. This extends from students to staff and from parents to the wider community. It requires that our entire community shows tolerance and understanding towards the diversity in our neighbourhood, and requires trust that the process will provide a fair and respectful outcome.
If you are already a member of our school community, we hope that this website becomes a regular place for you to keep up-to-date and that it also becomes a place where you can celebrate that you have made an excellent choice for your child's education. If you are not involved directly with our school and are just visiting our website, you should be able to learn a great deal about us.
