In 2006, North Shore Primary School was one of nine government schools in the Corio-Norlane area that committed to investigate their current practices and explore the opportunities to deliver education in an innovative and engaging way. The nine schools, consisting of both primary and secondary settings are Corio Primary School, Rosewall Primary School (who have merged with Corio since the process began), Corio West Primary School, Corio South Primary School, Norlane West Primary School, North Shore Primary School, Norlane High School, Flinders Peak Secondary College and Corio Bay Senior College.
Through consultation with students, staff, parents and the wider community, we have discovered that there are many untapped opportunities that could provide exciting pathways for students from birth through to beyond the traditional Year 12. The project combines research into the most effective and engaging teaching and learning approaches with designs for flexible and planned learning spaces. The Project is at an exciting stage with Learning Centres about to be built on three of the preferred sites, Corio West, Norlane West and Corio primary schools which is part of the Australian Government's Building the Education Revolution initiative.
